My online college experiance so far!!!
When I first thought about becoming an online student I was excited about it, I also did not really prepare myself for the workload. I did not think that it would be easy, because of my personal life (home, work, and children) it has made it difficult for me to keep up. I do like the flexibility of being able to take seminar after my kids go to bed and I try to get my work done between work hours. Sometimes i think that I should have taken traditional style class to help me maintain my focus. At home sometimes i am distracted by the kids , phone, or television. I am still trying to find myself and my study habits and i believe it will all work out. I don't have any ideas about creating a closer community because I believe the university does a great job with that you have seminars discussion, AIM,Blogs and email.

Hi Salina,
ReplyDeleteInstructors who work from home sometimes have the same distractions. I know I do. Household chores, TV, phone calls, grandkids, ex-husband, neighbors, door bell, etc. One of my biggest distractions is Facebook. If I am waiting for something to load or just need a break from KU online activity, I open Facebook. That can distract me endlessly. I have to discipline myself by just not opening it if I have set a work goal deadline.
Unfortunately, grandkids and ex-husbands do not understand the importance of quiet during audio seminars! Since I opened this term here in Memphis while visiting my daughter I have used her bedroom/office and the biggest noise was the dryer. Just wait till I get back to Florida. You are bound to hear my grandkids in the background at least once! :-)
